Shar K'thal, patriarch of the K'thal royal family, was the King of Hammerfell who began his rule in 4E 140, founding the K'thal Dynasty.
Once a famed hero loved by the people, Shar became a far more harsh ruler in his later years, frustrated by the belief that none of his living children were worthy of inheriting the throne from him. His feelings changed in 4E 202 when his second-youngest son, Augus, displayed his new-found power and wisdom as Dragonborn.
With Augus becoming King, Shar finally felt at peace and passed away the day after his son's coronation from natural causes. A statue of him was commissioned and erected in the Aurora Palace, at King's Rest.
