I know what you are saying. These are called "portals" on some wikis, and they serve to get the community involved on pages regarding their respective topics. They are being phased out and most new wikis don't have them. Here on TESFanon, we don't really have enough content on the wiki for individual portal pages and our community is still very small where you don't have to worry about word of the Barachis project not getting around. I don't think we should have any hub pages, at least as of now.
Sure. If you are sticking with a dark look like on TESFanon, see about copying the first five clauses under the "Page styling background" section at the bottom of TESFanon's MediaWiki:Common.css to your wiki. Then experiment with them on your site in wiki-style boxes like what we have in Template:Component. These components work modularly, so you use them to create individual components for the main page that you fill with content. You may wish to make an individual template for each. Lastly, You should look into creating custom background images for official use on your wiki using a program like photoshop if you have it. If not, after amounting some pages of content, you can contact Wikia's design team to do this for you.
Hey Pikapi, just wanted to let you know that i changed some of the things you added on the Valmer article to work more with the backstory me and Ghost divised for the Dalmer and Darwishi. If you have any questions about this please let me know : ) (oh if you find any, fix any mistakes i've may have made)
Ok, what you had was still a little sketchy and repetitive and wasn't the most clear, so I figured that because it was in its early stages and because I am a part of the project that you wouldn't mind if I edited it a little. Thanks, and sorry.
Oh and I had an idea. If it is possible, instead of having all our names on the author template, couldnt we have a template stating that 'this article is part of the New Frontier project, please dont edit with out the permission of Moderator Supahbadmarine'? This would be a lot easier then putting a few names into that one author template. But, like i said, only if this is possible.
Author templates are good because they list the main authors behind an individual article (not just minor spelling and grammar corrections) where it isn't all too obstructive. After all, because it is a rather helpful and much approved feature on fanon wikis, you should avoid general project amboxes (though you can create customized Author amboxes, which I am trying to phase out anyhow). I'd much prefer everyone using Era templates to denote different projects and timelines. Can any of the Barachis project members create a suitable image (GIF of 28px wide) to represent the project that can appear at the very top right corner of all of the articles that are part of the project? All in all, almost any ideally constructed article will look very nice with one Era, Author and Infobox template.
Just thought you should know Pikapi that Ultra Kuzon said this "I was (am) close to getting admin rights here, bitc*, so don't fuc* around with who you don't know of." I thought you should just know this. Also for more info this is what I said to him "And then their is this random guy who comments... Oh hey the random guy is here that`s nice." So yeah just wanted to mention this to you incase something happens.
Because you can't handle a sentence I say to you and you report everything? You don't even know me. I was going to help with that thing but obiviously you don't care. So I don't care. You don't need help nor does this wiki. Mr. I-can't-handle-an-F-ing-statement-that-is-said-in-chat-because-I-am-weak. I go on chat happy ready for a good convo, but A-hole comes on. This wiki is about to lose a valuable user.
Ok Pikapi, here is what happened in the chat as i was there. Me and Kuzon were on chat at first but there was really that much talking. Then Ghost joined in and i preceeded to welcome him and a small convesation begun between me and him about the project while Kuzon stayed silent. Then Ghost told me about a new comment made on the blog as he said above "And then their is this random guy who comments... " to which Kuzon typed a question mark, then Ghost typed " Oh hey the random guy is here that`s nice" Now I think Kuzon overeacted by posting what Ghost stated above. And Ghost then after that, posted that comment on your Talk page and Kuzon became angry about it making more bad comments. This is when i intervened giving them both warning's which Ghost accepted and Kuzon left chat and replied to Ghost messages on your talk page. Now if i portrayed any of this in the wrong way i invite both Ghost and Kuzon to correct me.
On a side note, i believe we need a policy of some sort on how to properly behave in chat, and deal with these sort's of situations that may happen in the future.
Yes, I agree. I'll see to it that we adopt a civility policy as soon as I get back to working on site policy. The community seemed pretty stable, so I wasn't really expecting this kind of drama. Kuzon, it seems pretty unanimous that you were first to loose your cool, and from what I can see you do have a temper... It doesn't seem like Ghost purposefully instigated the situation by stating that you are a "random guy who comments...", so your behavior really wasn't called for. I'd very much like it if you didn't decide to leave the wiki, Kuzon, but understand that I am going to have to give you a civility warning for this, which is a precursor to a block or a ban. Thank all of you for briefing me on this. MSW, you have chat moderator powers so I'm entrusting you with dealing blocks from the chat feature as you see necessary until we develop a stable chat policy.
I am defensive against you-know-what-holes who decide to report me after I say something back in defense. I just left Wikia about a month ago and came back here to help with the thing. So banning me isn't really getting anyone anywhere, just putting more reason on me to pull something. And he DID say "Oh look it is the random guy...". And regarding that I am not purposely random, I overreactingly (I admit) said back to him in the way I did, CENSORING my words. So following that he reported me because he thinks I am going to vandalize and spam. I CAN vandalize and spam if he wants to, he does NOT know who I am, or anything about me, so he has (had) no rights to say anything. Exactly the reason of last time. And that proves my point in hopes of turning off this conversation. And a policy about how to behave in chat? I have had that problem WAY too many times, and no one ever cares. I have a bad view on Wikia which is the reason why I left over a month ago. Letting out your anger (censoring your words) has nothing wrong with it. But reporting someone you don't even know after one message is also overreacting and not helping. So I am in a way not the only one guilty of something here, and I hope you can see that. You are not me, you have not the same problems as me, and I have also admitted to doing me do's. I hope you do so as well or we will have some problems int he future. Thank you.
I see your point Ultra Kuzon and I will also admit I might have overreacted as well. But when you said "I was (am) close to getting admin rights here, bitc*, so don't fuc* around with who you don't know of". It made me feel like you were threatning me with Admin Powers because why else would you mention you are getting close admin rights? I only "reported" you because I felt that if a further incident happened, say you got admin rights and abused them then this incident would be noted and the abuse would be dealt with. Im not saying you would abuse them im just saying what if this happened. Also on the note of "I CAN vandalize and spam if he wants to" please don`t do that. It will only make you look bad, and what would it prove?
Going out of your way to offend another contributor is inexcusable. Ghost made a comment that wasn't particularly considerate towards your feelings (which wasn't nice, but he does have the right to do so), and you followed it with a personal attack. Personal attacks are derogatory, unconstructive and do not make a point; they only have the potential to hurt the community and deter the offended from contributing. This could have been avoided if you had assumed good faith in the first place, because logically, Ghost would have had no reason to be against you prior to your derogatory response. He reported you because of your uncivil response (not particularly because he anticipated vandalism from you), and I informed you that continuing this kind of behavior warrants a block. Capisce?
That is settled. Though I don't see a "personal attack" anywhere as we already settled that and I heard you in your previous statement when you said "inexcusable" (I don't believe in the term), and "warrants a block" which you have already stated. So we have already settled this. Please do not respond if it is not a "Good response" or so. Thank you.
Thanks, I was hoping that it would get noticed! I still have a lot on my plate though, but I definitely appreciate that you noticed. Soon the site will look brand new and run more organized. Keep up the good work! :)
Hey Pikapi, could we have somthing on the commiunty messages that talks on the Barachis project? And could we change some of the 'Maiq heard' quotes to more recent article. Just some ideas. And good work on the front page, it looks much better then before
Hello pikapi, we may try and attempt to do the chat meeting again today (Sunday) at the same time. I know that it may be a lot early for you but trying to make it later would mean me and Genki would have to be up at 12 o Clock (could be ok for me but maybe not for her) so tell me if you can make it or not
Hey Pikapi. I just wanted to let you know that I created a couple of categories including Gods and Nobles. I wasn't sure if there were any rules with regards to making categories, so I just thought I would let you know.
