“I have seen horrors no living person on this world can even imagine, I have seen the burning wastes of Oblivion, the foul and evil Daedra, the mutilated corpses of guards who ventured into Oblivion, I have even seen Mehrunes Dagon himself! I have carried such images in my mind for over half a century, but the time when such nightmares will be banished from my mind is coming very soon, may Kyne guide me to her husband's hall in Sovngarde, where I can rest in peace with my ancestors.”
―Matilda Pickard's last journey entry, hours before her death

Matilda Pickard was the heroine of the Oblivion Crisis, she put a stop to Mehrunes Dagon's evil plot, during the crisis she rose from being a lowly prisoner to the Champion of Cyrodil, her rise to fame was detailed in a book called Dragonheart.

A distant descendant of Elizabeth Pickard, the Second Era heroine who foiled Molag Bal's plan to meld the plane of Coldharbour with Tamriel, and with a lineage going back all the way to Ysgramor's Five Hundred Companions, Matilda had the blood of heroes in her veins, with her being instrumental in the final defeat of Mehrunes Dagon, Matilda became yet another Nordic hero of the Pickard family, what she saw in Oblivion tormented her for the rest of her life, before she finally died in 4E 59 and was taken by the winds of Kyne to Sovngarde, where she met her honoured ancestors, such as Elizabeth Pickard within the Hall of Valor, and where she would later meet one of her descendants, Rebecca Pickard, the Dragonborn, nearly 150 years later during Rebecca's quest to put a stop to Alduin. to be continued
